What are the themes surrounding this Olivier Award-winning play?

The Octagon Theatre, and co-producer's Out of Joint, would like to welcome you to an Investigate Day which will explore the themes and issues of Our Country's Good, by Timberlake Wertenbaker, based on the novel The Playmaker by Thomas Keneally. Max Stafford-Clark (Director) will be joined by other leading industry professionals who specialise in making theatre for and with prisoners.

Max will be investigating the human experience of, and relationship to, crime and punishment. Max will set Our Country's Good in its own historical context with specific reference to Robert Hughes' magisterial book The Fatal Shore. Max will lead a lively debate and will be joined by members of the company.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone studying this classic piece of theatre and will be of particular interest to teachers who want to find new and innovative methods of using the text with pupils and students.

The Investigate Day will take place at the Octagon Theatre and will culminate in a viewing of the matinee performance of Our Country's Good.

Some customers might consider this play to be unsuitable for children.
